I am
I am Meg Gwyn, health coach, educator with over 25 years of experience, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and life-long learner. I started my practice knowing first-hand what a stressful job it is to be an educator. I know how easy it is to get completely engulfed in always doing, doing, doing for others and completely ignoring my own needs. This is where Health Coaching comes in. You are taking care of your partner, your children, your parents, your students, you name it…and it is now time to take care of you.
You are
Maybe you have had a health scare. Maybe you are sick of not having the energy to exercise like you used to. Maybe you need the motivation to re-adopt healthy eating habits. When you sign up for health coaching, you take time to work with a coach on the wellness goals that matter most to YOU – healthy eating, a manageable exercise plan to keep you fit, stress management, sleep, motivation, and so much more that will lead to a long and healthy life.
We will
As your coach, I will help you create a dream of optimal health and wellness for YOU, help you come up with a plan to get there, and will act as your accountability partner. Together we will take one small step at a time until you reach your vision of wellness!
My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 57. After she passed away, 14 years after her diagnosis, Dr. Dale Bredesen’s book
The End of Alzheimer’s was released and so began my journey for health for me and my family.
During my mom’s decline as I moved from being a teacher to being a principal, I was dealing with my own health concerns. My blood work led me to see several specialists who had no answers for me. I turned to functional medicine doctors. I learned about foods that agreed with me and those that didn’t. I learned about what my body needed – nourishing foods, movement and strength training, and I learned about toxins that might be in my home and body products. I learned that I LOVED learning about all of this and I NEEDED to share this information with others who were suffering.
I now know that there are so many things to consider with nearly all health conditions –many of which are within our control. Studies have shown that half of all cancers can be cured through lifestyle changes. Yet only 6% of people follow the top five health behaviors.
I have become a health coach to assist people with behavior change toward optimal health and well-being. Mom left a lot of legacies, and I know she would be proud that I am helping others, largely because of her.
